1.1 The vocabulary
Vocabulary is the first factor that affects the students' reading. If one has commanded a large number of vocabularies, his or her reading process will be smooth. There are many methods to get to the aim. The first one is to pay attention to studying and gathering. To memorize the vocabulary is a process step by step, which demand the student to make a determination, not only to memorize the vocabulary in text, but also to memorize the vocabulary from the reading materials out of the class. Just like a saying goes: many a little makes a mickle. The second one is to acquire the method of word structure, which can help the learner to enlarge their vocabulary and to memorize them. For example, compound words: headline(标题),impatient(不耐烦的), self-control(自制), affixed words: comfort(n)→comfortable(adj), interest(n)→interesting(adj). The other ways contain to memorize words by sorting the words into different kinds. Just as the words about the family relationship: family, relation, neighbour, master, guest; professional relationship: teacher, director, engineer, chemist, manager, president. For our Chinese student, I think the method to memorize words assisted with the Chinese sentences, which can achieve twice the result with half the effort.
