摘要:本文是英语阅读论文,本文主要通过问卷调查了解学生的文化意识,对文化的兴趣以及通过对教师的问卷了解目前英语教学的现状,进而通过课例对教师在授课过程中文化导入的方式进行分析,发现教学过程中的问题,并给出教学启示。

Language and cultural relations are inseparable. Therefore, our foreignlanguage teaching is not only requires students to master the correct language rules, butalso requires students to master a certain cultural background knowledge.

2.2 Theoretical Basis
The study is based on the Schema Theory. “Schemata” is a term in cognitivepsychology that refers to the knowledge that already exists in the human brain. Theconcept is relevant to the known information of the individual. With regard to thecontents of the illustrative knowledge, Carrell (1984) argues that the pictorial structureconsists of two parts: the content schemata and the formal schemata. Carrell (1987) alsopoints out that the knowledge of initiating and reading materials is conducive to students’understanding of the materials. The lack of initiation of the illustrative knowledge is themain difficulty for the readers in second language reading. In the 1970s, linguists appliedthe Schema Theory to language and reading studies, and pointed out a new direction forreading teaching.According to the principle of Schema Theory, in the process of readingcomprehension, the reader input the text information and then looks for an icon thatdescribes the information that already in his mind. To a certain extent, the reader’sunderstanding of the text information process is actually an active “guess-confirmed”process. After entering the text in the brain, the reader is looking for the icon in the brainand finding the icon associated with the input message means that the content of thearticle is successfully understood.Therefore, in the procedure of English reading, teachers should instill knowledgeabout language and article genre. Teachers should introduce the cultural backgroundknowledge related to the content of the article. To use this method to stimulate students’relevant illustrations helps them connect existing knowledge and information providedby articles, and develop students’ ability to use illustrations.
