private. During this 50-year period, middle class villas, town houses and substantial terraces were being built while national prosperity was increasing.
In recent decades, city planners, policymakers and developers have increasingly looked towards designing new housing policies in order to achieve a more sustainable housing form.  According to 1909 Housing and Town Planning Act, it concerned about continuing housing problems of the poor such as slums and protecting the countryside-from the on-going sprawl. It established State intervention and the notion of ‘town-planning’ for the 1st time. In addition, local authorities should produce ‘schemes’ for town plans. However, the 1909 Housing and Town Planning Act were not very effective. It was a very timid act with lacked any real teeth. In practice, the 1909’s Act cut down housing stock. 1919 Housing and Town Planning Act introduced neighbourhood unit, In addition, and parkway also introduced to limited access highways for private cars only, and designed for recreation

According to Taylor, ‘The growth of housing could be one way to maintain the sustainability, especially on affordable housing supply.’ (Taylor, 2008: 121) People like to living in a friendly atmosphere resident, with good infrastructure services. Furthermore, the environment is clean, with cleaner air and water and less litter. For the case study of Elgin Site in Gateshead in Newcastle upon Tyne, it witnesses the new housing development. With a combination of hedge and fence boundaries, the site works upon a security by design principles. Through having no sharp, blind corners and a design that flows without the creation of potential crime hot spots. Each plot has a garden and a gate; simple features such as gates, make the homes safe as there is less opportunities to gain access to the property.Privacy is also an important part of a home. Through layout, each home has its own boundary and own space which isn’t overlooked by the other properties, yet still feel part of the community as other homes are nearby but don’t intrude each other’s privacy. The aim is to create sustainable lifetime homes, with the choice of materials being essential. Through using a range of materials that will make the homes greener and more sustainable into the future, it will encourage residents to buy and grow with their homes reducing the chance of them moving. Wool bricks are stronger and more tolerable to the windy and cold conditions. There would be suitable as they provide further strength as the weather conditions at the site are cool and windy due to its typography. Through working with local bricklayers and producers, it aims to get bricks from those and allowing the development to benefit a number of different people. Many of homes will have double glazed windows, but with triple glazing in the areas which face the colder conditions and the wind. This will therefore make the homes more sustainable as they keep the heat in.
Housing in the Dutch
During the time of 17th and 18th centuries, Netherlands was dominated by brick construction. In order to create an integrated architectural experience both in interior and exterior, the Netherland was almost articulated in brick. Since the Second World War have led Dutch became the most densely populated country in Europe with a population over 16 million. Land was understandably at a premium. Due to the poor ground conditions for high-rises, it has pushed 论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
