Conclusion
The advancement of humanistic education theory and the foreign language teachingreform have brought increasing attention to foreign language anxiety which greatlyinfluences language learning. Based on the assumption that non-English majors fromindependent colleges experience foreign language classroom anxiety, the author reviewedand summarized the previous study on foreign language anxiety and carried out thepresent study among 160 sophomores from Wuhan Bioengineering Institute. 137 validquestionnaires were collected.
The FLCAS was employed combining with the teaching practice and observation toinvestigate the overall condition and individual differences of the foreign language anxietythe subjects. The analysis of the data collected revealed that foreign language anxieties doexist among the students and the level of their anxiety is comparatively high, especiallythe students from rural areas and the students major in science. And their foreign languageanxiety attributes to test anxiety and communication apprehension to a large extent. Sincethe possible sources of foreign language anxiety have been identified, somecountermeasures are proposed for teachers and students in the hope of helping them todeal with foreign language anxiety and improve the effectiveness of foreign languageteaching.
