摘要:Now there is a great deal of researches and contributions about students withlearning difficulties. But how to help these students is also the question which thewriter concerns.

Chapter 1 Introduction


1.1 Background of the Research
The New English Curriculum Standards requires that teachers must respect thestudent's personality, pay attention to the students' individual differences, meet theirdifferent needs,and create an Educational environment which can guide the studentsto participate the class activities actively. It also asks the teachers to stimulate thestudents' enthusiasm for learning, to help the students have the positive attitudetowards English study and an ability of grasping and using the language, so that eachstudent can be fully developed.From the above, we can get that it's the teacher's duty to help all the students makeprogress in English learning. So the teacher should also help the students with Englishlearning difficulties with their English study so that they can use English well in theirfuture lives.The author has worked in a rural junior middle school -Bulaotun Middle School inMiyun for more than 13 years. She always tries her best to find out the effective ways to teach English and help the students learn English well. For all kinds of reasons,there have always been some students who were healthy in intelligence but inefficientin course learning in her school. In 2012,the author was offered the work of teachingEnglish in a Junior Three class. In the class, there were more than half of the studentscouldn't get the scores of more than 72 which is the pass score in the exams of Junior\Education. In this class, there were 40 students, 23 got the scores less than 72 in theirsecond semester final exam of Junior Two. 10 students got scores between 72 and 90,5 students got scores between 91 and 101,and 2 students got more than 102 scores.Obviously most of the students didn't do as well as they expected and there weremore than half of the students might not have motivation to English study so they gotsuch poor grades. So the writer thou it's necessary to find out the good ways tohelp these students out of the problans

1.2 Purpose of the Research
Now, the students with learning difficulties are common in Implementation ofElanentary Education, especially in rural middle school. It was Samuel. A. Kirk whofirstly used learning disabilities to describe students who were healthy in intelligencebut inefficient in course learning in 1963. In China, the teach often calls tiiosestudents as students with learning difficulties,those who can't achieve therequirement of the teaching syllabus but they are as intelligent as other students,thosewho have poor or little abilities of learning and those who are poor both in grades andin behavior. No matter they are called differently as the students with learningdisabilities abroad or the students with learning difficulties in China, they have somecommon characteristics.

2.1 Studies on Students with Learning Difficulties
The first person who studied the students with learning difficulties is Morgan, in1896. He studied it from the neurological and medical point of view. And theneurological patterns were later substituted by the pattern of psychology.
