A. Finding Books on Macquarie University’s Catalogue
In order to find books on a particular topic you will need to use the Library’s Catalogue. Some of the Library’s books are available online. The catalogue can be accessed by clicking the Catalogue link on the Library’s homepage at: https://www.lib.mq.edu.au
Search by keyword, title, author, subject or call number.
You can also use the following databases to locate online books.

B. Using Google scholar to find journal articles
In order to search for Journal articles on a certain topic, you need to use online library databases. One of the Library databases that helps maximise your research productivity is Google scholar. It will search for journal articles across many databases that the Library currently subscribes to.
Here is a step-by-step way of accessing the Library databases.

Go to the Macquarie University Library Home page at:
https://www.lib.mq.edu.au
2.
Select Research Databases then click on G below Browse databases by name
3.
Select Google scholar
4.
When prompted, insert your personalised myMQ login and password.
Please note Google scholar has its limitations. You need to consult with individual database that is related to topics in Marketing such as Business search premier on Ebscohost, Emerald management Xtra 111, Expanded academic ASAP, Global Market Information Database, InformaWorld and ScienceDirect

C. What is Journal Finder?
Journal Finder is a full list of journal titles (print and electronic) which may be accessed in, or through Macquarie University Library.

Why use Journal Finder?
Some databases do not provide full text access to articles. These are described as Citation and Abstract databases. It is essential to use Journal Finder after identifying an article citation (author, article title and journal name) on a database.
For example, an article found on the database Business Source Premier has the following citation:
Chung, H.F.L., The Impact of a Centralised Organisational Structure on Marketing Standardisation Strategy and Performance: The Experience of Price, Place and Management Processes, in Journal of Global Marketing. 2008. p. 83-107.
The above article has an abstract only on Business Source Premier. To find the full text of this article you would go to Journal Finder and search for Journal of Global Marketing.

If a journal is available via an online service there will be an 'Electronic journal' link unde
r 'Call No.' which will take you directly to the journal itself, whenever possible.
D. Where do I find readings for my unit?
Sometimes your lecturer will refer to book chapters, journal articles, unit outlines, reading lists, lecture and tutorial notes, essay questions and past exam papers that may be available online from e-Reserve on the Library website. You can locate your unit’s online material by typing in your unit’s course code.

Select e-Reserve from the Library homepage.
