This module will call for the successful student to:
S1 Select and apply a variety of different models to analysis of an organisations internal and external environment
S2 Collect, analyse and interpret a variety of data from a range of sources to support decision making

An ideal report will have the following content attributes:
Part 1
• A brief outline of the company, including, for instance, the nature of its business, its structure, markets and/or industrial sectors in which it operates, main competitors, apparent approach to generic strategy, with some examples from its activities to support the observations. This could be part of the introduction.
• Use of appropriate models/tools/techniques of strategic analysis (PEST, SWOT, Porter’s 5 Forces, core competencies, resource audits, etc) with brief justification of the techniques used.
• Selection, evaluation and/or assessment of the most relevant or important parts of the information/insight gained by using the models/tools/techniques of strategic analysis.
• Appropriate financial analysis based on publicly available information. Generally, there should be a balance in the use of ratios etc (performance, profitability…). These may be used as part of the SWOT
• The essence of this section is to conduct and analysis of the organisation and its environment to identify the major challenges facing it ( mainly a focus on the external challenges

The first half of the report should provide a context and rationale for the second

Part 2
• A rationalised plan that identifies and addresses the key issue identified and rationalised in part A relating to effective leadership and management that show understanding and critical evaluation of theories and concepts addressed within this module(use of a framework such as Mc Kinsey’s 7s’s, or Johnson & Scholes Cultural Web, etc)
• You should evaluate the current situation within the organisation identifying areas of weakness in relation to you issue
