Introduction
The ‘Metrics’ workbook introduced measuring the success of information systems/information technology (IS/IT) and the distinction between the process versus product dimension in the approaches to measurement in covering the product- and process-based non-maturity IS/IT measurements. A product-based measurement, is mainly concerned with assessing the different features of the IS/IT as a product while a process-based measurement is concerned with measuring the process that creates the IS/IT product, assuming that successful process produces successful IS/IT product. This workbook is concerned with presenting the product- and process-based maturity models/approaches to evaluating IS/IT success that were briefly introduced in the ‘Metrics’ workbook. The maturity concept is based on the notion that a distinction could be made in regard to the levels of maturity of organizations based on pre-set characteristics. The premise is that by understanding a maturity model, organizations can use this to help not only assess their current maturity level in terms of their capacity to successfully implement IS/IT but also help efficiently advance them to a higher level of maturity.

The chapter starts by presenting the product-based approaches firstly introducing the Nolan model, which was the first maturity model based on IT expenditures. The models that followed Nolan’s and built on the criticism the model received are then discussed including Earl, Balata, Hirschheim et al., Galliards & Sutherland and Weill & Broadbent. The process-based approaches are presented next. Such approaches imply a reference framework structured in levels of maturity to facilitate implementation, which prescribe the activities, methodologies, tools, etc. an organization should implement and/or use. The following process-based maturity approaches are presented Capability Maturity Model (CMM) including SW-CMM: staged process model, SE-MM: continuous capabi论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
