摘要:英语冠词的影响:这篇文章是英国最常见的语素之一,中国英语学习者最容易掌握的语法之一。对于这方面的研究在国外,国内的研究是描述的语法功能丰富,很少有实证研究。

ystem will be established as a framework guiding this particular study.In this study, Bickerton's (1981) Semantic Wheel and Lonin etal.'s (2004) informaldefinition of definiteness and specificity are adopted as the linguistic theoretical basis.To get the first-hand reliable data about the situation of different Chinese learners'overuse of English articles, an experiment is conducted. Three groups of students withdifferent proficiency level are tested through a paper sheet of English article test,including five Chinese-English translation and a forced choice elimination. Onanalyzing the test data, the author found that in spite of a great deal of instruction,articles are still a lingering difficulty for L2 learners, especially when their nativelanguage does not have articles, articles comes as a leamability problem for them.In light of the experiment, three categories of article overuse, namely “the” and “a(an)" and zero articles are identified, bringing about four research questions which willguide the subsequent studies. They are:(i ) Does Chinese have influence on L2 acquisition of English articles overuse? If ithas, how does it work?(ii) How does classroom instruction affect the L2 acquisition of English articlesoveruse? If it has, how does it work?(iii) How does one's cognitive learning style influence the L2 acquisition of Englisharticles overuse? To what proportion does it take up?(iv) How dose the semantic ease or difficulty influence the L2 acquisition ofEnglish articles overuse?Answers to these questions will be expected to gain  the experiment,


1.3 Organization of this study研究结构
This thesis includes six chapters: Introduction, followed by literature review, andthen methodology, Results and Discussion, Pedagogical Implications and Suggestionsand the last one is Conclusion.Chapter one is a general introduction of the thesis, including the goals of the study,the research questions of the study and the organization of this thesis.Chapter two establishes the theoretical basis of the thesis. In the first part, UGaccess and Article Choice Parameter are reviewed. The second part gives a briefliterature review, including studies at home and abroad.Chapter three introduces the methodology, including the research hypothesis andpredictions, methods adopted in this thesis, procedure of the experiment and thestatistical analysis of the experiment.Chapter four is the results and discussion part. First, a thorough description of thedata is given. Then these data will be compared and analyzed. At last findings of theexperiment are presented.Chapter five mainly focuses the initial four research questions and possibleexplanations. d on these findings, some pedagogical implications and someinstructional suggestions concerning the English article system are provided.Chapter six summarizes the findings of the study, draws conclusions and discussesthe implications the study has provided for both SLA theories and language teaching,this part also offers suggestions for further research.
