§1.3 Structure of the thesis论文结构
There are five chapters in this thesis:In Chapter 1,the research background is described at first, next is the researchpurpose and significance, followed by the structure of the thesis.Chapter 2 is the literature review. First,it summarizes previous research on L2vocabulary teaching and learning abroad and in China, and introduces someapproaches to L2 vocabulary teaching. Then, it introduces the theory of WholeLanguage Approach, including its origin, definition, principles and current research.The relationship between Whole Language Approach and L2 vocabulary teaching isalso described in this part. At last, multimedia technology is introduced after WholeLanguage Approach,also including its application to L2 vocabulary teaching.Chapter 3 describes the research methodology of this study. It consists of thefollowing six parts. First is the author's research hypothesis. From the second to thesixth part, the subjects, instruments, materials used in this study, the teaching modeand procedures in the whole experiment are introduced respectively.In Chapter 4,the quantitative results of pre-test, post-test and the questionnaireare presented, and the discussion of the results is followed. More concretely, thediscussion is centered on four topics, comparison between traditional approach andWhole Language Approach assisted with multimedia's effects on enlargement ofvocabulary size, comparison between their effects on mastery of vocabulary usage,students' attitudes towards Whole Language Approach assisted with multimedia andeffective ways of applying this approach to college English vocabulary teaching.Chapter 5 is the conclusion, which contains major research findings, pedagogicalimplications, limitations of this study,and suggestions for future research.
