tion, and is the value of worldwide national education. Multicultural education is one of the international prevalent tendencies. Eastern and western education joint together and explore coincident theoretical basis in many problems at the end of 20th century, though they had different developing background. This paper is based on the Chinese and English literatures, using the extent study of the relative scientific theories and research methods. This paper analyses the essence of the multicultural education development according to the British multicultural education theories and practices. With the practical and realistic attitude, this paper ingests "nutrition" and "raw material" for exploring the characteristic minority nationality education in China.

摘要
多元文化教育始为西方民族教育的理念，世界民族教育之价值取向。多元文化教育己经是国际流行的趋势之一。东西方教育虽在不同的文化背景下发生、发展，却在20世纪末在许多问题上交汇在一起，寻求一致的理论依据。本文在利用中西文献的基础上，广泛学习相关学科理论和研究方法，以多民族英国的多元文化教育的理论与实践为对象，总结、分析多元文化教育发展的本质，本着实事求是的态度，来为探索我国具有中国特色的少数民族教育而汲取“营养”和“素材”。
