Las Vegas is Nevada's largest city in the United States, it is famous for its large travel, shopping, holiday industries which take gambling industry as their center. Las Vegas changed itself thoroughly with a few decades from a small village one hundred years ago into a big tourist city. Moreover, tourism in Las Vegas has obvious seasonal characteristics. It is located in Nevada’s Southern desert, Las Vegas’ tourism industry has obvious periodicity, during working days, summer and Christmas, the number of visitors drops considerably, which restricts the development of local economy. In view of this situation, Las Vegas begins to focus on conference industry.

In terms of conference scale, the conferences held in Las Vegas can be the top conferences in the world, including the international construction machinery conference, the international consumer electronics show and international transmission conference, etc. In 2011, over 4.8 million conferences held in Las Vegas and they brought about $4 billion non-gaming revenue (Las Vegas Means Business, 2012). At present, Las Vegas has more than 10.5 million square feet of conference space, the most representative is the Las Vegas Convention Center. Las Vegas also has one of the largest ‘green’ conference centers in the world using recycled water and solar thermal systems (Rogers, 2008). However, the development of conference industry in Las Vegas also faces some challenges, such as the traffic jams, the rising crime rate in Las Vegas, if these problems can not be solved, the development prospects of conference industry in Las Vegas may not be prosperous. This report identifies the key supply, demand issues and trends of the conference industry in Las Vegas, based on the analysis results to bring forward recommendation on its development.
