Therefore, this paper have reviewd the idea of spiritual leadership in an organization including the issue of the role of people in the organization and how to lead your people or your resource with spirit effectively in order to achieve the organizational value and planning goals.
2 What is spirit for organization development 什么是组织发展的精神
Spirit sounds like a religionary word. Over the years, this word is usually used in the field of religion. It is strange why the term of spirit have interfered into the organization development today. Please do not surprise! The world is full of innovation. There is a scene in an south korean sitcom. The people is so proud if someone could work for the LG international corporation. Of course, the wage is a attractive factor working in the large internation such as the LG and SAMSUNG corporation. But the most important for the employee, it is the glory that would bring to. It is the spiritual culture which influence and control the people cognize. So it is said that a some kind of spirit is more important than any other elements.
Similarily, spiritual leadership which also named in terms of ethical, moral or principled leadership is have the same role for the organization development. Thus, the HRM activities which funtion the role of balance the relationship between organization management and the overall employees, relates with the every cycle of selection and recruitment plan, as well as showing the values for organization and how the orgainzation value their employees(Kishita, 2006). If the value for employees is just some kinds of control and required absolutely obedience, the HRM practices would not go to long. In the work of HRM, the manageres or practitioners should give the showing of humanistic and spiritual leadership.
Spiritual leadership is not an idea that every organization willing to accept for some reasons. For example, spiritual leadership means more spending or a larger office in the ways of rewards for employees, some managers who just emphasize on the recent interests do want to reward extra money or spending to their emplyees. As a result, the followers have enough initiative and innovation for this kind of boss or organization. Because the employees could feel the value or protection for their outstanding working. However, in fact, the most of successful leaders or managers all have their strong spiritual concept of leadship. Thomas J. Watson, the founder of IBM company, is a famous spiritual leader. He valued the men as the keepers of company. He explained the competition of company in global market is the drastic talent competition(Sam P, 2004). Thus, this is why there are so many colleges, institution, books and magazines have busy to explosion the faith of spiritual leadership today. Obviously, there is a emerging growing trend for palying the spiritual leadership as the most key management level in the organization development.
