Retail Link® (Product Suppliers): Wal-Mart requires all product suppliers to participate in Retail Link®. Retail Link® provides information and an array of products that allows a supplier to impact all aspects of their business. By using the information available in Retail Link®, suppliers can plan, execute and analyze their businesses—thus providing better service to our common customers. Retail Link® is a website that is accessible to any area within suppliers’ company.


Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) (Product Suppliers): EDI is the most efficient way of conducting business with Wal-Mart’s suppliers. This system providers invoices, allows improving customer services, lower expenses and increasing productivity. Wal-Mart hopes that its merchandise suppliers could be able to participate in EDI transactions. Wal-Mart helps suppliers who do not currently have EDI capability to determine the EDI package that best meets their business needs, while also meeting our EDI requirements. Wal-Mart will also perform tracking tests to suppliers who have already have EDI capabilities when they become Wal-Mart’s suppliers to make sure their current system is compatible with Wal-Mart’s EDI.


B2B IT Support System: Besides, Wal-Mart also uses RFID technology to track its items’ information since 2005 (Simchi-Levi, et al., 2008). RFID helps Wal-Mart to know well of inventory information, sales information, replenishment information.


Lead-Time Requirements (Product Suppliers): Wal-Mart asks suppliers to adapt lead-time requirements without questioning. It is to build lines of merchandise for each season a long-range process that involves much more than simply getting items on store shelves. The amount of time usually required varies, ranging from a short lead-time of about 60 days to commitments made a year in advance of a selling season.


Timely Shipping: Wal-Mart also carefully analyzes a new supplier’s ability to ship products in a reasonable amount of time. Delay of shipments can lead to great losses—both monetarily and in customer perspectives. Wal-Mart’ partners are to combine excellent products with on-time deliveries, as well as at the right cost.
