摘要:本文是一篇英语教学法论文,本研究作者发现众多学者主要集中于研究学生在续写任务中的批判性思维能力,简单地指出批判性思维能力会影响学生对读后续写的态度以及内容的连贯性,并没有进一步研究批判性思维能力中哪个维度会影响学生读后续写的成绩。

Two Literature Review

2.1 Definitions of Continuation Task

The phrase'Continuation Task'was initially derived from the similar concept of'reading and thinking'(Wang,2012).According to him,'Continuation Task'is a specifickind of writing where pupils are expected to complete an incomplete story with a previouslyshifted ending.Learning a second language can be accomplished by combining reading andwriting.(Wang,2014),Domestic professor Wang(2012),advocated a more efficient learning method thatcombined closely students'reading with their writing abilities.In the beginning,Wang&Niu&Zeng(2000),advised teachers should instruct learners to master more writing words,phrases,and sentence patterns in their daily conversations.They also pointed out that studentscould learn efficiently by combining reading with writing in classes.Afterward,Wang(2009)put forward some basic and significant principles of Continuation Task.He pointed outContinuation Task was a kind of writing training method,which required students to combinetheir imitation abilities with their creative abilities.It was not until 2012 that Wang formallyproposed the definition of'Continuing Task'.In the unique writing exercise'ContinuationTask,'students use their imagination to construct development points and unfinished storyendings based on the opening sentences of each paragraph.Continuation Task necessitates notonly the students'reading but also their writing skills.

According to the above experts'definition of the Continuation Task,this study regardsthe Continuation Task as a writing method combining reading and writing,requiring studentsto analyze the assigned materials and then write the ending of the story in a reasonable way.

2.2 Definitions of Critical Thinking Ability

The concept of critical thinking ability originally was announced by Dewey(1910).Headvocated that critical thinking was a spontaneous and critical thinking process.Watson &Glaser(1980),made a deeper exploration,founding critical thinking would be divided intothree following aspects:knowledge,language techniques,and learning attitudes;That is to say,learners need to learn how to analyze and organize the language,they also have abilities tojudge and evaluate phenomena in life and have critical attitudes in their lives.Ennis(1985),treated the critical thinking ability as a reasonable reflective thinking process.Mathew(1987),viewed critical thinking as a skilled and rational thinking procedure.Paul&Fisher(1993)emphasized that critical thinking ability is a rational and technical thinking ability.Fisher&Scriven(1997),insisted Critical thinking abilities contained inference abilities,interpretation,observation,and analysis.Paul&Elder(2008),modified the concept of critical thinkingability,treating it as an art of evaluation and analysis.Critical thinking abilities requiredstudents to solve problems effectively and communicate clearly.Moore&Parker(2017),stressed the important part of critical thinking abilities was making proper and reasonablecomments on others'viewpoints and plans.
