摘要:In recent years, along with the reform and open door policies throughout China and therapid development of Chinese economy, the development of higher education especially thedevelopment of higher vocational colleges has marched into a speedway. But Englishproficiency of the college students declines actually year by year because the number of therecruited students is expanded gradually in higher vocational college. Some students have greatdifficulty in understanding teaching contents very well and they would lose interests in Englishlearning, which may result in a vicious circle. English teachers in higher vocational collegeshave been trying their best to attack the problem from different angles, while appropriateapplication of nonverbal behaviors of English teachers will be helpful to resolve the problem.

including its significance,classifications, functions as well as some inspirations from native English teachers usingnonverbal behaviors in classroom teaching.Chapter Three reveals the research design. It gives concrete elaboration to the subjects,questions and hypotheses, instruments, procedures and data collection.Chapter Four presents the result and discussion of this study. First it analyzes the currentsituation of utilization of English teacher’s nonverbal behavior in higher vocational college.Next it discusses the influence of teacher’s nonverbal behaviors on teaching effect in high
vocational college English teaching. And then it probes the probability of improving nonverbalbehaviors.Chapter Five gives the conclusions and puts forward some practical suggestions fromdifferent angles. In addition, it points out the limitations of the study and directions for futurestudy.

Chapter Five Conclusion and Suggestions

 

Based on the above analysis and discussion in Chapter Four along with the questions andhypotheses in Chapter Three, this chapter introduces its conclusion and puts forward somesuggestions, which includes three parts. Part one introduces its conclusion. In order to improveteacher’s nonverbal behavior, Part two provides some feasible suggestions. In addition, Partthree illustrates limitations of this study and puts forward suggestions for future study.

 

5.1 Major Findings
According to the analysis in Chapter Four, this study reached the conclusion as follows:1) English teachers’ nonverbal behavior has positive influence on teaching effect inclassroom in higher vocational college. And it has positive influence on teaching effect throughinfluencing emotional condition between the teacher and the students, atmosphere of classroom,activity of students’ participating and then affects students’ testing result and English proficiencyfinally.2) English teachers’ nonverbal behavior can be improved through some efforts or training.
