摘要:这项研究,在一定程度上,对维吾尔人的英语教学带来一些启示。教师应重新认识自己在教学和学习策略系统地纳入课堂教学中的角色,为学生提供多渠道的方式来使用学习策略,通过及时,准确的反馈,帮助学生提高自己的英语水平。
1.2 Significance and Purpose of the Study
As the old Chinese saying goes: it is better to teach a person how to fish ratherthan give him a fish. The development of personal autonomy is almost universallyproclaimed as a goal of education, and Wenden (1998) observed that “few teacherswill disagree with the importance of helping language learners become moreautonomous as learners”. Learners will have to learn much more even after leavingThis tentative study may provide some insights for a better understanding of Uygurstudents and their characteristics in terms of beliefs about autonomous learning,motivations and learning strategies.As is known that self-taught examination is a very important system of highereducation in our country, the number of learners is increasing year by year. InXinjiang, large number of people also take part in self-taught examination, and inrecent years, the number of ethnic minority people is soaring, but few studies takethem as focus, so the author attempts to choose the special group of full timeself-taught examination students as subjects to investigate their current learningsituation.
1.3 Organization of the Study
This thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one deals with the background andsignificance of the study, and the structure layouts of the thesis. Chapter two gives arelevant literature review of this study. Firstly, the definitions of autonomous learningare overviewed; next, the characteristics of autonomous learner and theoreticalframeworks for autonomous learning are introduced; then, some factors influencingthe development of autonomous learning are presented; last, previous researches onlearner beliefs about autonomous learning at home and abroad are reviewed. Thedesign and procedure of the present study will be reported in Chapter three,containing research questions, subjects, instruments, data collection and analysis.Chapter four is the center of this study, the statistic results and discussions will bepresented. The last chapter presents the summary of major findings, some pedagogicalimplications for English language teaching and learning, and states the limitation andsuggestions for the study.
