摘要:被认为是其中一个最重要的情感因素,影响了学生的外语学术的动机。以前,许多研究开始的侧重点各有不同,从最初的介绍,外拓理论,激励探索的内部结构,以及试图寻找的动机和学生的学业表现之间的关系进行实证研究。

1.2 Purposes of the Study研究目的
Motivation, one of the most crucial factors influencing second language learning,has been studied by many experts and researchers. In China,experts also show a greatinterest in motivation. Papers have been published to introduce and explore theorieson motivation or empirically probe into its internal structure or try to reveal whetherthere is any relationship between motivation and students' English learningachievements. Only limited amount of research was carried out on art undergraduates'English learning. Art undergraduates are in a very special English-learning group.Since they are enrolled in the university with much lower marks, it is obvious thatthey are poor at compulsory subjects. Nevertheless, it was unwise to say that the artundergraduates don't like English or refuse to improve it. So researching themotivation features of art undergraduates must be a complicate but useful job, whichcan guide teachers how to efficiently stimulate students' motivation and how toconduct a successful English class. Art undergraduates' motivation is also greatlyaffected by some important variables in English learning and teaching classroomwhich mainly include the influence of the textbook, the influence of teacher, theclassroom setting and art undergraduates' attitudes toward English class. Thesevariables will be also researched in this thesis. So this study focuses on the motivationof art undergraduates’ English learning and puts forward useful classroom teachingstrategies for English teachers who organizes and manages the class and who plays acrucial role in improving classroom teaching and helping students to learn effectively.This research is mainly based on answering following questions:(1) What are the motivation types of art undergraduates?(2) What is the motivation intensity of art undergraduates?(3) Which variables affect art undergraduates' motivation in English learning andteaching classroom?


1.3 Layout of the Thesis论文结构
This thesis is made up of five chapters. The first chapter provides an introductionincluding the background of the study, purpose of the study and layout of the thesis.Chapter 2 is the literature review on the basic and important theory related to thisstudy. Chapter 3 is methodology, in which research design and research procedure areillustrated in detail. The fourth chapter focuses on data analysis and results discussion.Chapter 5 is the conclusion and implications of the whole study.
