UNESCO (United Nations Educational, scientific and cultural organization) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It was founded on 16 November in 1945.

Intangible Heritage was defined in the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage ratified by Switzerland in 2008. Intangible means incapable of being perceived by the sense of touch. The intangible heritage is the expression of the identity of communities, groups and individuals, which takes the form of traditional legends and stories, songs, dances, music and theatre. Intangible heritage is an important factor in maintaining cultural diversity in face of growing globalization including traditions or living expressions instead of the cultural manifestation. It is significant for human being to protect the wealth of knowledge and skills that is transmitted through it from one generation to the next. The Intangible heritage refers to what is important for the individual and the community.

A ritual is a set of actions, performed mainly for their symbolic value. It may be prescribed by the traditions of a community, including by a religious community. The term usually refers to actions which are stylized, excluding actions which are chosen by the performers. Ritual actions are not characteristic of human cultures only. Many animal species use ritualized actions to court or to greet each other or to fight. Some ritualized actions have very strong selective purpose in animals. The wedding ceremony is a kind of ritual. At all times and in all countries, the wedding ceremony is considered to be the greatest ritual of anyone's entire life.
