In the 80s of last century, Litman put forward the model of box-office. He departed the reasons which affect the achievement of a movie into three parts: originality, publish and movie marketing. Stars belong to the part of originality (Litman.1983).
Then, Litman found that the total box office income, first week of box-office record are directly influenced by the levels of stars(Litman & Kohl,1989).
In 2006, Germany media economic professor Thorsten Henning-Thurau, Mark, B. Houston and Gianfranco Walsh created a model on the factors which will influence the income of movies. And according they made a survey.
The model is:

From this model, it is easy to find that stars have directly influence on consumers’ review.
“While cultural familiarity refers to the branding of the overall product, stars and directors serve as branded ingredients of a movie.” (Hennig-Thurau ,Houstonand Walsh. 2006).
“Certainly, ... there are films where the budgets are so large, you want to build in that insurance of having a star to get that big opening weekend” (Hennig-Thurau ,Houston and Walsh. 2006).
