Research report on the teamwork of Toyota

Introduction:
Toyota is a Japan automobile company and it has grown to be one of the magnates of the world. It is considered as the third auto company following the Ford and GM of America. The particular management of the company and its global sales system are the foundations of its success. The research focuses on the teamwork inner Toyota and with special focus on the sales departments. Since Toyota has initiated its businesses in many countries besides Japan, the staffs of the sales departments are of different nationalities, religions, cultural backgrounds and speak different languages. In the report, the body section is made up of some report and relevant analysis in four aspects including organizational and team environment, team design, team processes and team effectiveness. The causations of the success of Toyota will be uncovered within the analysis according to the research.
Organizational and team environment:
The communication system of Toyota is particular and direct. The relationship between staffs and between the managers and workers operates by looking (Jeffrey K and Liker, 2008). Everywhere in the working environment of Toyota there are signals and identifiers. They thought the eyes are the most sensitive apparatus of human body and it would be more efficient. For an instance, if somewhere in the producing line occurs a problem, the labor workers would see it and light a corresponding signal, after the relevant engineers see it, the engineers would get to the right place and solve the problem quickly. This happens everyday in Toyota’s producing factories and due to the design, the communication among staffs goes smoothly and the capacity is enlarged. In the sales departments, the communication is even more direct. There is a permanent custom in Toyota; the chief managers spend three hours per month to participate in meetings in every individual company alternatively. The meetings are just a format; the essential events are after them. The meetings usually last about thirty minutes and in the latter two hours the chief managers will change information with the local managers. In the processing of it, the orders are delivered to them and the reports are handed in. “Due to the high frequency and efficiency of the communication among the workers, the management system is operated smoothly would be smooth in any organizations.”(Melony E., 2008) And it happens in Toyota as well.
The organizational environment is peaceful and harmonious in Toyota, for the members hold the same principle of producing the best cars and contribute to the perfection of human being. Since it is an international company, the environment is complex and various. However, under the excellent management and people communication, the problems caused by environmental difference are solved properly.
Team design:
Toyota is an international company; the workers are huge in amount and complex in composition. The team members are from different countries and of different cultural backgrounds. At the mean time, they work in different ways compared with each other.
