Part of the complexity can be attributed to the factthat the English article system does not consist of one-to-one form and meaningrelationships. In addition, this complexity may bring about the advanced non-nativespeakers of English to make errors. So, English second language (ESL) teachers often findit difficult to understand how or why their students choose to use articles in such a way. Itthus becomes \ery important to examine theories about the English article system and tounderstand how such theories relate to L2 learners' use of articles. In order to find outreasons underlying such difficulty and to improve the teaching and learning of Englisharticles, a number of ESL educators have explored different methods of English articleinstruction. Fluctuation Hypothesis and Semantic Wheel Model.Article Choice Parameter proposed by lonin, Ko and Wexler (2004), refers to languages inthe world which can be divided articled languages and article-less languages. Some studies explore that even L2learners whose LI has articles also reveal a lol of article substitution errors, and then it isinconsistent with the prediction of FH which transfer overrides fluctuation (Chang. 2009).The third theoretical approach is Semantic Wheel Model.
