Functional stylistics is widely used in various fields, and it is provedinfluential in literature analysis, but little has been applied to the analysis of non-literaturediscourses, especially in business discourses. In this sense, it is a worthwhile pioneering job.This paper aims to shed light on CP comprehension in a new angle and hopes this study maycontribute to developing the research methods for discourse studies.(3) To provide a new way to understand corporate profiles. So far, several approacheshave been conducted in CP this specific field, and no one is found to make a stylistic analysiswith the application through the approach of SFG.’s three metafunctions. In the final part ofthis thesis, some suggestions are put forward, which might be useful for further studies.(4) To apply the results in practice. With the rapid development of economy in China,more and more Chinese companies need an English CP to present them to the foreigners.Taking a functional stylistic approach to the analysis of corporate profiles’ features can helpthe writing and translation of corporate profiles.

1.3 Data collection and methodology数据收集和方法论
The author ed 25 corporate profiles  the websites, and all these companies arelisted on the Fortune Global 500-2009. Fortune Global 500 is a list which is ranked every yearby Fortune maganize according to their gross revenue. And all these companies are generallywell-known, with long history and good images, performancing well in every side, and theyall have played the leading role in their industries, their writing mode could be good samplesfor other small or medium-sized companies to imitate, so they could be representativeexamples. There are two reasons why I choose the corporate profiles  their homepage.First, it can be easily obtained; second, as a new information network platform, the homepageis widely employed as a means by which companies communicate with the public and manypeople get to know a company. It has become more and more important in people’s life orwork.These companies are  many countries of the world, some of their Homepages arenot written in English. The author only chooses the English profiles as the collection data forthe convenience of doing research. Moreover, to express the universality at the extreme, thesamples have been ed up  a wide range of business fields, including the oil and gasproduction industry, computer, hardware, retail, insurance, mining, food, pharmaceuticalindustry, manufacturing, drinking business, electric power, financial service, gas and waterresources facility, personal stuff, industrial engineering, medical equipment and services,industrial transport, real estate, construction and building materials, services, cigarette, banks,etc.After collecting the data, the author conducted an analysis of CP within the framework ofFunctional Stylistics and adopted both statistical analysis and qualitative approaches toanalyze the corpus in this thesis. The procedures are:Firstly, label the data in the corpus d on the Functional Linguistics, secondly,obeserve the data statistics, make analysis of the labeled data and give an objectivedescription. Thirdly, make explanation of the language use.
