Thewebsite of a company provides a platform to the world helping to establish their publicimages and do business with them. When people want to know something about a company,many of them would choose to look up on the internet, and corporate profile, written anddistributed on the website, is the most direct and convenient way for people to get the basicinformation of a company and become acquainted with the companies they favor.The thesis originally started out of the author's interest. One year ago, as the authorneeded to tangle with company’s home page everyday, she realized the importance ofcorporate profiles which can build the communication between a company and the readers,thinking that corporate profiles can be defined as a of communicative events. Bhatiaclarifies “company brochures of various types as one of the sub-genres to study promotiongenre.”(Bhatia 1993:74) In this sense, as a part of company brochure, corporate profiles mightbe a worth study.

1.2 The Significance of the Thesis论文的意义
Some researches have been done on CP so far, most of which adopt theories in genre,management or translation for analysis. Very little has been done the perspective offunctional stylistics, and there should be some work to do in this field. This research is ananalysis of corporate profiles the perspective of meta-function of Systemic FunctionalGrammar established by Halliday to make a stylistic analysis on it. The author gives atentative attempt to make a comprehensive analysis of the three meta-functions of corporateprofiles, which may contribute to learning how to use English language in writing ortranslating, and particularly, we could find the diversity of functional linguistic system and itspractical application.There are at least four aspects of significance in this study:(1) To equip ourselves: The internet is an immense information source and corporateprofiles in Homepage are a new means of communicative language between companies andthe readers who are interested in those companies.
