br /> The primary object of this thesis is based on the Conceptual Metaphor of Lovewhich is the typical phenomenon in emotion metaphor. So this part of thesis mainlyaims to find out the previous typical experts and scholars as well as their classicalmetaphor theories at home and abroad. This chapter primarily describes the currentresearch status, basic content, the research method, problems solved and unsolved onmetaphor, especially Conceptual Metaphor at home and abroad as well as the differentfields of previous studies on love metaphor, Based on previous studies, this chaptercomprehensively describes the current impact and development trends of metaphorand love metaphor with some innovative summaries and conclusions, which are veryimportant to this thesis.

2.2 Previous Studies on LOVE Metaphor
Many foreign experts and scholars have done analysis and research in this field.For Love conceptual metaphor study, Lakoff & Johnson (1980) conceptualized love asthe following aspects: JOURNEY, WAR, CONTAINER, PLANT etc., and detaileddescribed all aspects of love. He also proposed the view of using typical theory toanalyze and study of the most sincere emotional factors of human. In theclassic'Metaphors We Live By' Lakoff & Johnson showed that: Metaphor isubiquitous in our daily lives, not only in daily language but also in our thoughts andbehavior. Emotion is known as the most common human and most important lifeexperience. K?vecses(1986) summed up the love conceptual metaphor system, and published a monograph 'Metaphors of Anger,Pride and Love', through analyzing alarge amount of corpus, he also described the different features existing in differentcultures. In a variety of human emotion experiences, love has a special status andimportance. (K?vecses, 2004)In recent years, the cross-linguistic study of love metaphor also began to appear.There are some representative scholars, for example, Yesim & Kanter (2008)compared the English and Turkish love metaphors, and found out that because of thedifferences existing in religious, philosophical and cultural traditions, they had theirown distinctive features.Lee studied love from the perspective of love symbolism. He believes that love isbasically divided into six kinds of social consciousness or mode, the mode of love isaffected by cultural and social impact. These six kinds of love patterns can besummarized into two categories: main mode and minor mode. The main modeincludes: eros( passionate love) ludus(regard love as a game) and friendship lovestorge (friendship love)minor modes include pragama (practical love), mania(possession of love ), agape (dedication of love ). Minor mode is composed of threemain modes which consist the two types of love. This is regarded as a new innovation.
