摘要:As there are many ways at hand to examine the commercial potential of the new idea, it is essential to select a series of methods that match with the characteristics of the products. Moreover, the comprehensive use of statistical and forecasting methods also carries more weight during the procedures.

As the market penetration is the gradual realization of market potential, and this process will be affected not only by related decisions of the enterprise including marketing, production, research and development and so forth, but also by the conditions of the market and the macro-control system. Therefore, the market penetration forecast is often reckoned as a subjective judgment.
The so-called Diffusion Model is one of more rational ways to measure the market penetration. This method of research consider market penetration a process of interaction between innovation and imitation, In other words, the buyers of new products in the market can be divided into the behaviors of innovative customers and imitators (Van den Bulte and Joshi, 2007 ). Generally speaking, innovative customers are described as the people who try the new products at the beginning of marketing, while the imitators incline to be influenced by other customers’ recognition before follow-up purchase. In fact, most of the market opportunity forecasts adopt a multiple way, and various ways of forecast may assist managers to have deep understanding of future market (Steffens and Murthy, 1992.)
