Implementing the Inquiry Process 实施调查过程
The summer of 2004 ushered in a new dimension of adult life for me having earned a Bachelor's degree a couple of months before. It was my birth into a new world, a new career path that had little, if any, relationship with what I had studied for five years. I was experiencing my first real role as a Human Resources Practitioner. Having been elected to serve as a National Vice President, People Development for AIESEC in Nigeria - an international Leadership development organisation with presence in over 100 countries - I found myself in an usual situation where I practically had to learn, all I needed to know to function effectively, right on the job. This looming challenge stirred in me an 'insatiable' will to learn as much as I can as fast as I can. I knew there was so much to learn in such a short period that settling to gain knowledge by the books alone could be a fruitless effort. Consequently, I resolved to learning from others - people within the organisation who had more experience and exposure than I did, those that could simply tell me how things are done or not done.
Years after, I have continuously reflected on the huge positive impact that 'learning together' has had on my career progress. Former colleagues around the world were 'wooed' by the depth of my knowledge in People Development practices and processes. Yet, as I frequently voiced-out with pride, 'I have never had a formal training in Human Resources'.
Whilst working as a graduate trainee with Deloitte Consulting LLP's Region 10 office in Hyderabad India, the Learning and Development team wanted to implement a project dubbed 'HR for HR'. The intention was to have this as an initiative focused on the continual learning of Human Resources practitioners - as ironically, Human Resources practitioners tend to focus so much on offering learning services to the rest of the organisation that they forget to create learning opportunities for themselves. I was asked to come-up with a project that will meet the objective described above. 'Learning together' simply came to mind.
