Abstract
In this paper, it is through a comparison of time arrangement in the narrative techniques between Forrest Gump and Titanic to explore the use of time arrangement in movies. Forrest Gump is through the journey style to present historic times in the U.S. history through the life course of a fool, it runs through various stories which occurred in different locations together to form a complete system of the story. This narrative technique makes the development time of a story more brief, and it focuses more on the adoption of dramatic conflict between two people or more to www.51lunwen.org exhibit the vivid inner world of a character's and the delicate relationship between people. Titanic connects a love story between a man and a woman with a fact-based disaster, causing people’s strong moral resonance. The time of a movie is pluralistic, it is the factor which is more sensitive in film production, it also has a strong element of vitality, it also the force to promote story to go forward, different use of time makes the effect of the same film completely different. No matter what technique it has used, the purpose of the directors is through the adoption of aesthetic art carrier to keenly feel the objects they want to describe, they seize the most prominent features, and add a strong feeling in these images so that they constitute distinctive, innovative artistic image which can reveal the inherent beauty of things which have never been presented to enable movies have a full appeal.
