Desalination is the solution to South Australia's water crisis
Background
It is found out in Australian Government website (2007-11-26) that the South Australia uses 1165 gallon of water averagely per annum, which takes up 5% of the total use in Australia. It is evident that there are mainly two different water sources in South Australia, i.e. ground water and surface water (Source: http://www.watercare.net/water_sa.php, viewed at 2007-11-27). 746 gallon water is from the surface water sources, and the rest is from the ground water.
The water in South Australia plays an important role in the development and growth. Due to the reduced rainfall, and water shortage in this area, the desalination is considered as one of the solutions to resolve the water shortage in South Australia. I agree with this statement, especially on the basis of the advanced technologies, collaboration, effects, as well as efficiency of the desalination. In my opinion, even the desalination will cost large amount of money, and cause some side effects to the environment, however, I do believe the advanced technologies and further collaborations will improve these potential problems of desalination.
