l" standards ofEnglish( be it American English or British English) will gradually decay and lose. The rapid expansion of the Internet in the world and the emergence of Internetlanguage (CMC) further muddle up the situation. In the past, the standard usage ofEnglish was primarily developed and maintained with the help of two technologies. One was printing, the other was broadcasting. Printing fixes the communication bymeans of printing books. According to Anderson (1983), such fixity is particularlyimportant for the modern nation state to feel the existence of a community. "Butwith increasing use of electronic communication much of the social and culturaleffect  of  the  stability  of  print  has  already  been  lost,  along  with  central"gatekeeping"54 agents such as editors and publishers who maintain

consistentstandardized forms of language. Broadcasting, which was more important thanprinting in the increasingly mobile 20th century, can no longer play the same role asit once did due to the new trends in global media landscape. New forms ofComputer-Mediated Communication are blurring the boundary between written andspoken English "which has been constructed laboriously over centuries."55TheInternet culture encourages the informal and more conversational language, agreater tolerance of diversity and individual style, and a lessening deference toauthority. As more and more students of all age levels take part in electronicdiscourse and take longer exposure to Internet materials, language educators have toseriously consider how to respond to such unconventional language use andstructuring of ideas. Should those changes be met with acceptance or should they beredressed?
One  of the greatest advantages  of the Internet is  its  large amount ofinformation transferable at our fingertips and within seconds. Yet, this advantagecan be subverted into a total nightmare. Searching for information on the Internetmay be a headache for some users, especially for inexperienced users. It is probablynot uncommon that a user who starts searching the web on a given question ends upgoing deeper into a page that is far from being relevant from the starting question.Or, another scenario might be the entry of the key word turns out tens of millions ofresults that the user feels so much overloaded and overwhelmed by the information. So, experts suggest when users starts searching the web, keep sticking to yourstarting idea, bookmark what you think might be relevant and do not go checkinguntil your searching is finished. In addition, it is imperative to practice the searchingskills and use searching engines effectively in order to make full use of the Internetresources.

Censorship may also be a concern to language programs and instructors. TheInternet offers access to all types of issues and topics, some of which are unsuitablefor children, and this in itself may result in various problems that may bringnegative impact on children. While some precautions can be taken at the presenttime, they are not full proof by any means. For example, sexually explicit andviolent images are also highly visible and accessible. All these raw materials can gouncensored into the cyber space due to the nature of the Internet.论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
