摘要:本文是英语阅读论文,本文以一个学期的实践为基础揭示了少数民族学生在不同生活环境及教育观念的影响下,思想不是很开放,所以分析水平及系统化水平较差,经过老师引导,学生的评述性思维的得到了改善与提高。

Thestudy will fill up the gap on cultivation of the critical thinking on the minority ethnicpreparatory college students .In this study, the effectiveness on the critical readingstrategies to improve the abilities of reading and writing and critical thinking ability ofstudents ,and compared with the traditional reading teaching method, to what extent isthe critical reading strategies' effectiveness on the students, and the attitudes of thestudents to such reading strategies are all studied in this thesis. The study will promotemore studies in cultivation of Critical Thinking in minority ethnic preparatory collegeeducation and establish a theoretical basis for the flirther study. Thus the study is ofgreat theoretical significance.

Chapter Two Literature Review


2.1 Researches on Critical Thinking
Researches on Critical Thinking in western countries began about more than ahundred years ago. In 1910,John Dewey who is regarded as the one of therepresentatives of modern Critical Thinking put forward the “reflected thinking” whichis thought to be the best approach to master the knowledge. And the widely regardedearliest works on CT in academic circles is American Psychologist Edward Glaser'sResearch on Development of Experimental Critical Thinking which was published 1941,in which the term of CT is firstly advanced.Since the middle ages of the 20^*^ Century, with the great development of thesubjects in education, Psychology and other related subjects, the studies on CT arepromoted. Many papers and works on CT are published .Liu Rude in Critical Thinkingand Its Teaching pointed that “in the ERIC discs from 1992-1995,the number of theliteratures on CT study in the western education cycle is more thanl,500'.Luo(2002)pointed that “According to UMI ProQuest Digital dissertations, the searching of thedissertations from 1970 to 2000 with the titles' key words of ‘CT’ and the subjects' keywords of ‘Psychology and Education' suggests the number of the dissertations about CTis 158”.As for the studies in recent 20 years, the western countries, especially the US, haveturned more attention to researches on the critical thinking skills of college students.There are 3 main types of researches : (1) defining the connotation of critical thinkingskills, (2) designing the assessment instruments of critical thinking, (3) exploring theways to cultivate one's critical thinking abilities in higher education and evaluate itseffectiveness.

2.2 Theories Background
The study is about the cultivation of CT on the minority ethnic preparatory collegestudents in reading. So theories on CT and reading are listed below with the purpose ofbeing clear of the contents of CT and the general reading strategies.CT is a concept that has been developed for 2500 years. Theories on CT arevarious with the difference in fields and scholars' cognitive angles,etc. The followingare the introductions of the theories on CT and CT teaching for us to have someknowledge about them.John Dewey,who is the American psychologist, philosopher, and educator,regards CT 'reflective thinking' and gives a definition as following;Active^ persistent, and careful consideration of a belief or supposed form ofknowledge in the light of the grounds which support it and the further conclusions towhich it tends.
