摘要:本文是英语阅读论文,本文在信息差运用之下的语言学习是主动的并且同时语言习得也自然而然的。于是在最后一章作者得到了结论-信息差在大学英语阅读教学中的运用对提高学生阅读能力起到了积极的作用,而且对语言习得也有着深远的影响。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Research Background
English has become a lingua franca due to globalization. We learn English not only to communicate with native speakers but also to communicate with people all around the whole world. Consequently, the impact of English in China is tremendous. In foreign language learning, target language input is vital. Many linguists such as Krashen, Cook and Ellis have put forward theories on the function of input. Among them, Krashen’s theory is the most influential providing guidance for college English teaching. In 1980s, he proposed the theory of input hypo
thesis which mainly concerns with the second language acquisition. In learning a second language, target language environment is essential. However, it is not commonly provided to learners in China, and most of their English learning process is realized in classrooms. Under these circumstances, the main target language input is reading. Through reading, learners obtain information and language knowledge. Reading, as the main input way of language learning, is a complex mental activity obtaining information from written language. Reading is also one of the most important skills in language which can enlarge learners’ vocabulary, improve their competence and also broaden their horizon. What’s more, through reading learners can also enrich their cultural knowledge. So it is very important for English learners to build up interests in English reading and improve their reading ability to further contribute to English learning in every aspect.

1.2 Significance of the Study
The significance of this research mainly exists in two aspects including theoretical significance and practical significance. The theoretical significance lies in that this research evaluates the impact of IG task on college English reading teaching. Information Gap can strongly affect our comprehension for new information by providing an activity of exchanging information. It can make reading teaching more communicative; arouse students’ interests and motivation in English reading. What’s more IG task can build up their reading habit and further improve their reading ability. As for the practical significance of the study, it tries to find out problems existing in the current English reading teaching as well as to put forward a more comprehensive and concrete teaching procedures, which has great significance for the improvements of the current situation of college English reading teaching.
