CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Research Background

英语文学论文题目怎么写

In an era when electronic devices are gradually replacing paper-based media, the publication of children’s literature has gradually become the mainstream market of paper-based media, bringing huge growth space and potential. But behind this prosperity, there is a hidden crisis—children’s literature is gradually becoming homogenized under the role of market orientation. Children’s literature today is full of characters and plots that are similar to each other: naughty kids, talking cats and dogs, fun school life or the same old scary adventures, etc. It seems to have enriched the market, but actually, such books generally lack depth. Over time, children readers will find it boring and lose interest in reading it. Children’s literature should not be a catch-all for a large number of homogenized duplicates, but for a great quantity of individualized works. Such a need leads to a profound question of how to create individuality. This question points to the study of writing about taboo topics in children’s literature.

Generally speaking, literature touches a lot of taboo topics, such as death, the dead, murder and so on. But is it reasonable for taboo topics to appear in children’s books? For a long time, children’s literature seems to be a joyous, beautiful, pure, and happy Neverland. It seems that only singing and laughter can be expressed, while pain, sorrow, and especially death seem to be undesirable. The famous children’s literature writer Kenneth Grahame, who wrote The Wind in the Willows, opines that taboo topics are not suitable for children. He believes that the description of taboo topics would have a negative impact on children. It is undeniable that many writers and parents now share this view, subjectively assuming that children are incapable of accepting taboo topics and that they enjoy only children’s literature filled with play.

1.2 Research Significance

Children’s literature is a seemingly simple form of literature, but actually, it has its difficulty. It requires that writers of children’s literature completely master a certain “degree”—i.e. the degree of the nature and true ingredients that are the very makings of children’s literature—because if the writer does not master the “degree”, if he or she falls short of or overdoes it, the work will be childish or outgrown. Besides the role of the market, children’s literature is tending to standardization because the creative degree is hard to master, so the writers create a lot of similar characters and plots, and try their best to avoid taboo topics. But judging from the analyses and popularity of the few existing books that contain taboo topics, the appropriate writing of these topics can not only give children readers a different kind of aesthetic experience, but also benefit their healthy growth. But with the influence of traditional society and culture, the writing of taboo topics in Chinese children’s literature is still in a sensitive area.

In recent years, with the impact of various foreign cultures and the change of mainstream concepts, taboo topics—such as death, the dead, and so on—have gradually been experimented with, and may even become 论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
