4.1 Research Questions 

In this thesis, all the experiments and questionnaires serve for giving the answers to the questions as follows: 1) What is the current situation of English vocabulary learning strategies used by Chinese college students ? 2)  Does  the  application  of  category  related  theories  have  positive  and  efficient influence on vocabulary learning?  3) What vocabulary learning strategies or models based on the category related theories  can  be  applied  by  college  students  to  improve  their  English  vocabulary acquisition?

Conclusion 

This  chapter  contains  the  findings  related  to  the  experiment  in  the  previous chapter  with  a  summary  of  the  research  questions  in  which  the  findings  mainly concentrate on to what degree prototype theory and basic-level category theory could be used in vocabulary acquisition of college non-English majors in this country, and the  implications  and  limitations  of  the  study  and  some  suggestions  about  future studies are revealed. 
  1)  It  can  be  found  out  from  the  questionnaire  that  most  students  do  not  know much  effective  learning  strategies  in  English  vocabulary  acquisition,  and  it  follows that  some  teachers  do  not  pay  enough  attention  to  vocabulary  teaching.  Students frequently  apply  rote  learning  to  English  vocabulary,  which  wastes  much  learning time  on  vocabulary  memorization,  and  without  a  enough,  solid  and  well-founded vocabulary base, students could not master English skills really and further the better performance, or higher score in all kinds of English tests.
