Chapter FourRESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This chapter presents the results of data analysis in an attempt to answer the researchquestions. It firstly reports the results of the descriptive statistics so as to describe thegeneral tendencies of EI, FLA and motivation of English majors. The second question isexplored by adopting the technique of SEM and discussed at great length.
4.1 General Tendencies of Emotional Intelligence, Foreign LanguageAnxiety and Motivation of English Majors
The descriptive statistics of the three questionnaires reveal that in general, Englishmajors demonstrate a moderately developed emotional intelligence, a low level of anxietyand a moderate level of motivation.There were 30 items in the TEIQue-SF. As the measurement was of 5-point Likerttype, higher scores indicated higher emotional intelligence of the participants. As displayedin Table 3, participants’ EI reached had a mean of 105.97, a median of 106 and mode of105, which all fell into the range of moderately developed EI learners. As a contrast, thehigher scores of FLA meant that the students experienced more foreign language anxiety.The mean score of FLA was 90.66, together with a median of 96 and mode of 99 whichindicated that the majority of English majors had a low level of anxiety. Like emotionalintelligence, higher scores of the motivation meant that the students were more motivatedto speak in English. The motivation had a mean of 82.07, a median of 82 and mode of 82,belonging to the range of moderate-motivation.A much clearer picture of the participants’ distribution in terms of EI, FLA andmotivation could be displayed by pie charts in the following figures.

CONCLUSION
In the last chapter, the author first of all summarizes the key findings in this study, andthen focuses on the implications drawn from the research findings. In addition, this chaptergives the limitations of the current study as well as suggestions for future study.In this part, two major findings, in accordance with the research questions, aresummarized as follows.Statistical analyses show that the majority of the participants were of medium to highlevels of EI (90%) and motivation (79%), medium to low levels of FLA (99%).
