母亲节，也被称作母亲的星期天，有了很久的历史渊源。它事实上是一个基督教的庆祝仪式，来自罗马传统和希腊神话，那是一个用来向众神的母亲表示敬意的日子。由于它的背景源自非穆斯林世界，少数穆斯林家庭认为遵循这个传统代表着对另一种宗教的喜爱。这可能导致对现有宗教的背叛。尽管在现代社会，母亲节并不常常被看做是宗教节日了。相反，它被用来作为向我们自己母亲表达歌颂的方式。

这个节日的来源不是政府，也不是非政府组织；而是源自多元化宗教、社会和社会；最终几乎在世界的每个角落都变得极为重要。大多数国家都在不同的日期以不同的理由庆祝母亲节。

At a general glimpse, current literature is flooded with examples of mother’s love, her sacrifice and her importance. But to understand why does she love her kids so much. Different dimensions of her love that leads to question; why mother is so important in one’s life and in society. Plus how deep roots of appreciation for mother have been?

Mother’s Day; also known as Mother’s Sunday has its roots back down deep in history. Mothering Sunday primarily is Christian celebration having influence from Roman traditions & initially from Greek mythology where a day used to be celebrated to pay tribute to Mother of Gods. Due to its background and origin from non-Muslim world; few of Muslim families believe that following this tradition may represent their liking for another religion. This may lead to added essence of betrayal from current religion. Although in modern world; it is no more treated as religious celebration. Instead it is being celebrated as way of paying tribute to one’s own Mother.

When is Mother’s Day?

Hence origin of this celebration for “Mother’s Day” is not dependant over some government or NGO; this has been derived due to cultural influence of multiple religions, societies and mythologies; eventually gaining its popularity almost in all corners of modern world. Majority of countries have different days which they celebrate as “Mother’s Day” for different reasons. In Pakistan second Sunday of May is considered as “Mother’s Day” because we follow USA with this respect like many other countries (United States, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and Turkey).

(Austria, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Taiwan, Hungary, Portugal, South Africa, and Spain) celebrate on first Sunday in month of May. Rest of the world has its own reasons and particular dates assigned for celebration of “Mother’s Day”
