aying high corporate taxes here in America. According to Chrisopher S. Rugaber, President Obama wants U.S. companies to pay taxes on more of their overseas earnings. Currently, U.S. corporations don’t pay taxes on overseas profits unless they bring that cash back to the United States. (Rugaber 2012). I commend President Obama for wanting to regulate this action because companies should be held accountable to contribute more of their earnings into the U.S. economy. Outsourcing also allows companies to pay qualified people in other countries less money for their services. For example, when companies hire their foreign employees they generally pay them a fraction of the amount they would have to pay an American employee. Often they do not even offer these employees health insurance. Companies do not want to put up with the U.S. corporate regulations and workplace policies. They would rather take needed jobs to other countries and contribute money in the world economy as opposed to keeping those jobs in America.


Americans are being impacted by the loss of jobs in the U.S economy. Barbara Ehrenriech says “In the 80’s U.S. companies began outsourcing of everything from garment to steel, leaving whole cities to die”. (Ehrenriech 2013). In previous times, many people were able to support their families, with job that required minimum skills. However, these particular jobs are currently being phased out by technology or being removed outside of America. As a result of this, hardworking Americans are left jobless, and waiting in long unemployment lines. In this present time, it is becoming very difficult for middle class Americans to provide for their families. The available job pool for them is slowly draining. To illustrate, some companies have decided to send customer service positions to other countries. To be a customer service rep an individual must have excellent listening and communication skills in order to solve the callers concerns. Due to cultural differences and language barriers outsourcing these callers concerns can result in a negative customer experience which will reflect negatively on the company. Companies are appeased because they are making money but many Americans who loved there customer service job are now placed in a position to seek after a new skill set. Some people do have a genuine passion for their careers, but outsourcing is slowly taking that away from people


In conclusion, the financial gain achieved from outsourcing is not directly assisting the American economy or citizens. American companies should be held liable for the negative role they are playing in the U.S economy. If they choose to outsource jobs to foreign economies they should also create new jobs to fill in the void. As a result of this, the job selection for middle class Americans is minimizing. Outsourcing is beneficial to companies but this practice should be restricted because of the negative impact it has on middle class jobs and the United States economy.
