1. Introduction
1.1 The Background of Research
Xinjiang is an autonomous region where different minority nationalities live together.There are 47 ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, and the main ethnic minorities who live in here areUygur, Kazak, Kyrgyz, the Mongol nationality and so on. The population of minoritynationalities accounts for 59.9 percent of the total population, almost accounts for more thanhalf of the Xinjiang's population. That is to say, the population of minority students is a largeamount, so the education of these minority students is very important for the development ofeducation in Xinjiang. Therefore, education of minority students gets more and moreextensive and intensive attention which comes from all sectors of the community, especiallyfrom state education department. At the same time, it's a big challenge for the government,and also for the teachers and students in Xinjiang.The education of English is also a big challenge in Xinjiang. The teachers in Xinjianghave been facing the challenge of education for many years. Students in Xinjiang also havebeen facing the challenge of learning English for many years. Why education is a bigchallenge for students? First, most minority students live in their language environment, and itis sure that their native languages are not Chinese, but Uygur language, Kazakh or otherlanguages. Some of them will enter the school where almost the minority students stay, andsome of them will also enter the school where almost the Han nationality students stay. Sothose who enter the school where there are Han nationality students will face the problem andchallenge which are communication. Because most of teachers in this kind of school don'tspeak Uygur language or Kazakh, so minority students have to get used to studying in thiskind of phenomenon. Second, whatever which school minority students enter, they will learnEnglish. Minority students learn English more difficult than Han nationality students, becausesome of them will face three kinds of languages: native language, Chinese, and English.

1.2 Significance of Research
Vocabulary is the basic unit of language, and language is meaningless withoutvocabulary. Without grammar, people can not express a lot of things; without vocabulary,people can not express anything. Thus, the importance of vocabulary is significant inlanguage learning. Many studies have proved that the biggest difficulty for foreign languagelearners is understanding and using words, and abundant errors are made due to vocabulary.In language system, the most difficult part is vocabulary. With the improvement of learner'smastery of foreign language, there are less and less grammar errors are made, while there aremore and more difficulties which made by vocabulary. Vocabulary will have the influence onthe ability of listening and reading comprehension, also will have influence on ability of oraland written expression. Therefore, people can't understand others without vocabulary andpeople will have a smattering of the article. At the same time, if there is not enoughvocabulary, both verbal and written expression will fail to express the meaning, reader orlistener can't understand you.
