摘要:The present study attempts to investigate the overall situation of metacognitivestrategy use in senior high school students’ English reading so as to find effectiveways to promote the students’ interests in reading.
2.2 Relevant Studies on Productive Vocabulary
2.2.1 The Definition of Productive Vocabulary
To define productive vocabulary, one has first to make it clear that what refers tothe acquisition of a word, that is, vocabulary knowledge. Although there is nowidely-accepted agreement on the exact composition of vocabulary knowledge, mostof the researchers reach a consensus that vocabulary knowledge consists of more thanone aspect. Richard (1995) proposed that there are seven aspects involved invocabulary knowledge, which laid the foundation for latter research of vocabularyacquisition. He holds that to acquire a word, one should acquire its frequencyprediction and association of its synonyms, appropriateness of use, syntactic functionsor grammatical features, basic form and derisive forms, inter-word association,conceptual meaning as well as polysemy (Liu Shaolong, 2003).Based on the research of Richard, Nation became the first one to put forward thereceptive-productive dichotomy in defining vocabulary knowledge, and he shows aword knowledge framework by using a table.
