When listening, I gain energy and feel as if I walked along the shore, fresh breeze coming from the sea and touching my face tenderly. I can feel that they are singing their hearts out. I am so deeply obsessed by their pure voice that after leaving, I have dreamt of the concert several times, again and again devoting myself into the melodious music. The concert shows a wide range of musical styles and an internationally-inspired repertoire. Besides enjoying the beautiful songs, I find that there are big differences between Chinese and Australian choirs and music from different countries has its own feature.

1. Different Choirs
We call the sacred and innocent voice sounds of nature. But most time it merely has something with elegant actresses (Joseph Machlis), which I slightly object to, for their voice is more sweet than pure. However, the Victoria Children’s Choir speaks for the God easily. A piano and a few children, with a two- hour performance, make me satisfied and comfortable. The stage is not decorated intentionally, only a piano stands here silently. Then there come the lovely actors and a director. The concert is a collection of pieces and there are lighter ones and darker ones. The music is written of different times even from different countries. However, Victoria Children’s Choir makes a perfect performance. They are natural and unaffected, with happy expressions. Every face is filled with confidence and satisfaction. Their songs touch me and bring me purity and gladness which will never exist in adults’ world. When listening and looking at the Victoria Children’s Choir, I cannot help thinking of our Chinese children’s choir. Our teachers are always emphasizing discipline to children in the choir, so each child makes himself strictly accord with others, such as they will turn heads to the same direction at the same second and then to the opposite side. But that makes no sense to Victoria Children’s Choir. The actors of Victoria Children’s Choir are not about the same height, and not of the similar figure. To my surprise, their expressions when walking, bowing and singing on the stage look natural but professional. They’re just being themselves and using their voices to fire people’s hearts. However, in China, most of children’s choirs are stiff and pursue order too much. To the Victoria Children’s Choir, even without a director, children can play in a perfect way, but to Chinese children’s choir, it is more the director depends. It is obvious that there are different training philosophies in these two countries. I can imagine that to the Victoria Children’s Choir, teacher lend confidence on children in everyday training, leaving them enough space to exercise, cooperate and achieve their own perceptions. It is said that children are required to be conductor in class and go into nature. Thus, children’s abilities enhance and they are more interested in training. Even the music is no so easy to perform; the musicians are elegant and confident. However, in China, teachers are involved excessively. When doing training, it is always that children are imitating their teacher, which makes the song sound towards adolescence or adult.
