摘要:中国学生课堂参与一般低低,特别是中等职业的学生。研究人员在低的原因和解决策略对一些参与讨论,但他们并不参与和教学方法,因此与从根本上解决这一问题。

talents to take part in the social construction. And the students graduating fromvocational schools should have some skills or proficiency that can be used in theirfuture work,but most of these students just idle away their precious time for study,and act passively in class. Therefore, it is valuable and significant to find an effectiveapproach to improve students' participation in vocational English classes.As to this point, TBLT can be regarded as an effective method to promotestudents' participation by giving students many different opportunities to interact andcommunicate with each other as well as with the teacher. The tasks in TBLT areusually designed out of real life situations,which can help the students use Englishfluently and creatively in real situations, and the learners would acquire more Englishknowledge through participating in the process of completing such authentic tasks.Moreover, TBLT does great contribution to arouse students' interest in learningEnglish and also to develop students' communicative competence.After an overview of the previous researches, the author found that there weremany studies focused on the application of TBLT in primary and middle schools andsome even in colleges. By searching the CNKI, the author found that by the end of2011 only 9 articles were concerned with the study on TBLT in secondary vocationalschools,which shows that only few researches are conducted in vocational schools onTBLT application. As Premier Wen Jiabao put it that teachers should do researches indaily teaching practice just as the students leam knowledge through participation, thatis "learning by doing, teaching by doing".Therefore,the author attempts to practically testify the feasibility andeffectiveness of TBLT on improving students' participation in the subject classes.


1.3 The Structure of the Thesis论文结构
The topic of my thesis is An Empirical Study of Applying TBLT to ImprovingStudents' Participation in Secondary Vocational English Class. The whole thesis iscomposed of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the study, including the background andsignificance of the present research,and the structure of the thesis.The second chapter presents a brief review of some theories and researchesrelated to students' participation and task-based language teaching.The third chapter deals with the experiment of applying TBLT to improvingstudents' participation in Ouhai Secondary Vocational School, Wenzhou, which coversthe basic elements of a research: research questions, subjects, research instrumentsand procedures.The fourth chapter discusses the results and data analysis of the study in detail.The fifth chapter concludes the thesis in three aspects: the major findings,theimplications,and the limitations and suggestions for further study.
