积极心理策略在中职英语课堂的实践探讨

摘要:本文是一篇英语教学法论文,笔者认为教师需要停止将中职学生视为消极状态的问题群体,检查他们对学生的看法是否客观、全面,并尝试做出改变。从调查问卷的结果中可以发现,学生的积极心理水平总体上处于中等水平,这表明他们并不像人们一直认为的那样消极或被动。事实上,学生有自己的优势,如欣赏美丽和卓越(M=4.15)、好奇(M=4.09)、感激(M=4.03),这与中职生对学生的总体负面评价相反。

本文是一篇英语教学法论文,采用问卷调查、测试和访谈等方法对学生的积极心理水平和积极心理策略的实施效果进行了研究,最终回答了三个研究问题:(1)学生的积极心理水平总体上处于中等水平。高分组的积极心理水平比低分组高0.15,尤其是在认知因素方面。(2)实验后实验班学习成绩平均提高4.4分。在中等职业学校英语教学中实施积极心理学策略,有利于培养学生的学习兴趣,改善学生的学习态度,营造积极的英语教学环境,提高教师和学生的幸福感。学生参与课堂、与同学合作更加积极,与老师的关系更加融洽。

Chapter 1 Introduction


1.1 Research Background

This topic comes from literature reading. The existing researches about the study ofsecondary vocational students are inclined to its problems in terms of research contentsand unilateral in terms of research subjects. In addition, this topic is rooted in teachingpractice. The reality of English teaching in secondary vocational school is that manystudents have already given up the subject, and teachers are also more than bewildered.How to make English learning a happy thing? Or at least the teachers and students do notfrown at each other in the endlessly painful classes? How to help students to learnsomething while feeling happy? I hope answers can be found from the positivePsychology-the psychological course which studies happiness.

Positive psychology is a science dedicated to the study of potentials and virtues(Sheldon et al., 2001). Positive psychology emphasizes that only if psychology treatspeople positively and affirms the value of positivity can people learn to create andfeedback positivity and obtain real positive strengths (Ren Jun, 2006).Ren Jun (2006) mentioned that human society was facing confusion: with theimprovement of every aspect of human society and the development of psychology, thepopulation of psychological illness also appeared to grow exponentially. Thisphenomenon seemed to betray the intention of psychology. Human today has moreunreserved freedom, better material comforts, more advanced technology, more educationand entertainment. Technically, humans should be happier than before, but the result isquite divergent: humans feel even unhappier. Seligman claimed this phenomenon as thebiggest confusion of this century.

1.2 Research Objectives

This research aims to improve the presently inactive condition of English classroomteaching in secondary vocational schools by changing students’ passive emotion and fearof difficulty towards English learning and the series vicious cycle initiated by teachers’low teaching efficacy.

Firstly, this research investigates the current positive psychology level of secondaryvocational students so as to allow teachers to have a better understanding of their studentsand adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

Secondly, this research explores effective strategies based on the theory of positivepsychology and then applies the strategies to teaching design and later to teachingpractice. A case study is conducted to testify whether the strategies based on positivepsychology are helpful to improve English class in secondary vocational schools, and findout the effect differences of the practice of positive psychology strategies on students withdifferent English proficiency.

Above all, the ultimate goal of this research is to figure out a way to improve theinactive condition of English classroom teaching in secondary vocational schools. Theresearcher explores strategies and then applies and practices.
