摘要:本文以认知语言学理论中的概念隐喻作为理论框架,以往对商务谈判的领域的研究主要注重谈判策略的研究,针对商务谈判话语的研究还远远不够,本论文主要针对商务谈判的中英文话语中概念隐喻进行研究。
战争、旅行、食物、人体、建筑、容器六种大类的隐喻是英语和汉语都共有的,说明使用英语国家的人与使用汉语的人具有相似的人体结构和相同的感受。

1.1 Research Background研究背景
在中国随着全球经济的快速发展,中国的海外公司在许多不同的领域互相合作。国际商务谈判是商务活动中不可缺少的一部分。此外,面对面沟通谈判确定商务谈判通常是一种经济活动,在很大程度上取决于语言。With the rapid developing global economy in China, Chinese company and thecompany abroad cooperated in many different fields. International businessnegotiation is the indispensable part of business practice. Moreover, face to facecommunication between negotiators determines that business negotiation is normallya kind of economic activity depending largely on language. https://www.51lunwen.org/businessenglish/ Whether it succeeds ornot usually depends on the use of language. Both sides of negotiators have cooperatedwith each other while being competitive against each other. A large number of bookshave been published focusing on strategy, establishing business relationship, andnegotiation process, negotiation dialogue practice. Rarely do they give attention tolanguage itself in business negotiation. Actually, languages are usually taken forgranted by everyone since it has been used every day. Negotiators pay most of theirattention to talking about price, transportation, terms of payment and so on rather thanthe fundamental role: language. However, language is of vital importance for everynegotiator. Based on this, this thesis will focus on the language aspect by doingcomparative study on the conceptual metaphors in business negotiation discourses,with the aim to find some implications for International Business NegotiationTeaching and help the students learn the language of negotiation.As the researchers have found out that the earliest study of metaphor could betraced back to Aristotle who regards metaphor as a rhetorical device. Aristotle’s viewof metaphor dominates the mainstream of the study of metaphor for over twothousand years. It has great impact on the later theories such as comparison theory.Richards (1936) first put forward interaction theory. He claimed that “when weuse a metaphor we had two thoughts of different things active together and supportedby a single word, or phrase, whose meaning was a result of their interaction”(Richards, 1936:21). After Richards stated his theory, the study of metaphors turned todevelop from cognitive perspective.Lakoff and Johnson published the book Metaphors We Live by which pointed out“metaphor is pervasive in everyday life, not just in language but in thought andaction” and “our ordinary conceptual system is fundamentally metaphorical in nature”(Lakoff & Johnson, 1980:3) In their point of view, conceptual metaphor can bedivided into three main types: structural metaphors, orientational metaphors,ontological metaphors. From the cognitive perspective, it was a mode of thought andan effective tool for humans to understand abstract things according to the concreteones.Metaphors had always been a heated topic under discussion for linguistic studies.Up to now, scholars had established various theories about metaphor. Among thesestudies, there was no systematic study of conceptual metaphors in English andChinese business negotiation discourses.
