The recent decades saw dramatic changes in the ways people communicate with each other, the main reason of which lies in the rapid development of technology.  Personally, internet and mobile phone are the two significant techniques that affect people’s relationships.

As a matter of fact, the invention of internet plays a pivotal role in altering people’s communication methods. With the development of internet and instant messaging software, distance is no longer a problem. Humans can communicate with each other at any time any place if they are access to internet. What’s more, with the prevalence of BBS and other friend¬-making websites, people can make new friends and exchange ideas on a global basis. Apart from that, the advent of mobile phone is also an indispensable part in varying people’s interactions with each other. People can send short messages through mobile phone instead of merely making phone call by traditional phone. Furthermore, with the increasing widespread of Iphone, it is more convenient for people to keep in touch through communication software (facetime, skype, talkbox etc.), which is effective and efficient.

Nevertheless, people’s attitudes towards this trend vary from individual to individual. They doubt about whether these technology developments are positive or negative. For instance, some people agree that internet does shorten people’s distance but others think it also does harm to adolescents because of some violent and pornographic information.  Objectively, the advantages of these developments on internet and mobile phone overtake the disadvantages in terms of diversifying people’s communication ways and sharing information internationally. Thus, generally speaking, the developments in these techniques are positive.
