Conclusion
The present study has been carried out to investigate the effect of random accessinstruction on vocational college students’ English writing. It is based on theconstructivism theory, cognitive flexibility theory and the theoretical research onlearner-centeredness, learner’s interest and learning autonomy. Three questions wereaddressed in the 16 weeks research: (1) Is random access instruction effective inimproving vocational college students’ English writing competence? (2) Which ismore effective in improving vocational college students’ English writings, randomaccess instruction or traditional teaching method? (3) What effect does random accessinstruction have on students’ English learning interest and attitude?The two classes students were asked to write a short essay in English at thebeginning of the whole research procedure. Then in EC, the teacher would adoptrandom access instruction while in CC, the teacher continued to adopt traditionalteaching method. During the whole research procedure, the students both in EC andCC took three tests (pretest, mid-test and posttest) on English writing; and 9interviewees were chosen to complete an interview about how they liked the randomaccess instruction at the end of the experiment. The data were collected, and theanalysis was performed by SPSS 19.0.
