摘要:为了解决在调查中发现的当今大学生在英语学习中存在的问题,我们需要改变学生的观念,提高他们的学习意识,塑造学生的归因,失败归咎于缺乏努力和战略,同时也需要给予一定的反馈;其次就是激发学生的内在兴趣,进行有趣的课堂教学,创造课外学习环境和改革考核制度;最后需完善学生的学习自主性,包括心理准备和技术准备。

5.4.2 Technical Preparations
Technical preparations include helping learners develop their learning strategies and enhance their met cognitive knowledge. Learning strategies are the special thoughts or behaviors that individuals use to help them comprehend, learn, or retain new information. Met cognitive knowledge includes beliefs, insights and concepts that learners have acquired about language learning, which is directly related to techniques or strategies that learners use in learning.

Motivation research has received mush attention during the past several decades. Although researchers give different definitions as to what is motivation from diverse perspectives, most of them agree that motivation plays a vital role in the process of foreign language learning. Students who have good motivation can get actively involved in the learning process and achieve greater success. Some students who lack motivation have no desire and make no effort in the learning process at all.
The result of this thesis reveal the major types of motivation of English learners, there are integrative ,instrumental and social-group-identification motivation, this is identified from purpose; if we motivation from inside or outside, it includes intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
Motivation is not always unchanged; some factors will influence it such as goals, needs, attributions and beliefs. The motivation of students in English learning is different for everyone, they have their own desire and thought, according to their situation and the motivation is distinctive.
From the survey of motivation of English learners in English learning, we can see many problems appear in the English learning. So we should change students’ beliefs about learning, raise the awareness of being good learners; reshape students’ attributions, help students attribute failures to lack of effort, and give students appropriate feedback; next we should arouse students’ intrinsic interest, make the language class interesting, improve extracurricular English learning environments and the assessment system; the last is not the least, we should develop students’ autonomy, including psychological preparations and technical preparations.
This thesis emphasizes the effects of motivation in language learning. However, motivation is just one of the many factors which influence the learning process and the learning results.
