s with a combined method in linguistic studies. Secondly, the thesis tends to enrich the literature of coherence, speech acts theory and the studies in insurance — specifically international students health cover policies. The literature on the linguistic problem is monotonous. Although many scholars study discourse, coherence and SAT, the studies combining coherence and different aspects of SAT are relatively insufficient. The thesis tends to focus on coherence of the OSHC from the perspective of SAT, and add current studies to the literature in these areas. Thirdly, the study of discourse in OSHC settings tends to benefit the Chinese students seeking health insurance overseas. In the recent decades, more and more students choose to receive further education overseas. The research on the health insurance of these countries aims to help international students get an in-depth understanding of the meaning of health insurance policies and select the right policies and right companies, thus gaining more benefits for themselves. In one word, the objectives of this thesis are to introduce linguistics theories into insurance topics and provide a good reference for health insurance relating to overseas students.
