Performance Management Activities


Following activities are generally considered to be part of Performance Management:

 

Role Definition.During this activity, the areas where performance improvement is required and what competency is required are defined.Agreement.What is to be achieved at organizational and individual levels are defined and agreed. Specific goals are defined for each individual highlighting what is expected from them and what level of competency is required to be achieved.Improvement plans.Defines what individuals have to do to improve their performance for ultimately achieving their goals.This activity is intended to improve individual's skill set to increase their level of competency.Tracking and Managing.Performance management process should be managed throughout the year as a continuous process of providing feedback on performance, conducting various working sessions with the individuals to share and review the progress of performance, motivating the individuals, and consider necessary actions when dealt with performance problems.

 

Review.During this phase the achieved performance is measured and reviewed, and the necessary plans are defined for the next performance cycle.Role Definition.Considering the desirable goals, this activity defines what individuals are expected to know and what should be their key competencies. Apart from performance roles specific to their subject areas, performance management also defines goals specific to individual's behavior which should be in line with the organization values.

 

The role areas that require performance improvement are identified by the management. Based on the nature of work that would be required to be carried out by an individual, the required skill set or competencies are identified.
