Lao She is known as a novelist and dramatist. Luotuo Xiangzi, one of his famous novels, has been warmly welcomed at home and abroad. Luotuo Xiangzi plays an important role in the history of the Chinese modern literature. By his depiction of Xiangzi’s miserable life, Lao She attempts to show his profound sympathy for people of lower class and his antipathy for the social conditions of the time. Lao She, whose true name is Shu Qingchun, enjoyed excellent reputation at home and abroad. He was awarded many honorable titles, because he made great contribution to the literature of China. The Passenger Train (《火车集》)and Anaemia (《贫血集》)were presented during this period.
