What’s more, there is a Chipko Movement, in which people (called tree-hugger) wrap trees with their own arms to stop trees from being  cut.  The  government  also  issues  the  green  GDP  to  reflect  the  environmental costs of economic activities. From all this new words, we may find that our attitudes towards  environment  have  changed  a  lot.  This  change  has  also  influenced  what  we eat,  what  we  throw  away  and  many  aspects  of  our  lives.  The  study  of  English environment neologisms can help people realize the serious environmental issues and heighten  their  environmental  awareness.  However,  researches  on  English environment  neologisms  are  few  in  the  previous  studies.  This  thesis  will  make  up this gap and study the meaning construction of English environment neologisms.

Chapter Two Literature Review  

2.1 Introduction  
Before  the  study  of  English  environment  neologisms,  we  must  figure  out  what are English environment neologisms. Based on definitions of neologism put forward by  some  scholars,  the  author  will  give  a working  definition  of  English  environment neologisms.  Many  researches  on  English  neologisms  have  been  conducted,  but  the comprehensive  studies  of  English  environment  neologisms  are  relative  few.  The author only finds several papers (Hu Chang, 2003; Can Handan, 2008) which study the translation of them.
